SIMAERO RELOCATES A BOEING 747 SIMULATOR FROM MALAYSIA TO CHINA

SIMAERO Engineering announces that on June 28th, 2021, a Boeing B747 Thales Full Flight Simulator has been successfully relocated by SIMAERO from Malaysia to Chongqing, China and received level D certification from Chinese Aviation Authorities CAAC.

In February 2021, SIMAERO was selected for relocation of this B747 simulator to CHINA SKY-WING INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY LTD in Chongqing, China. The simulator was previously located in Selangor, Malaysia.

SIMAERO has organized all stages of the relocation from initial simulator inspection until simulator qualification post relocation.

SIMAERO, a company headquartered in France and specialising in simulator operations, engineering services and pilot training, has already gained more than 15 years’ experience in various simulator relocation projects for third party clients.

According to Julien Champs, General Manager of SIMAERO Engineering, a typical relocation project starts with a site survey at the removal premises prior to commencement of the service. A simulator baseline check, including a test flight and simulator audit, is then conducted to record the status of the simulator. After the baseline check, a team of SIMAERO engineers dismantles and carefully packs the simulator in a manner suitable for transportation, which can be organized by road or sea according to the destination of the receiving center.

The baseline checks were performed carefully, and the project progressed in accordance with contract timeline by combining SIMAERO local team in China, SIMAERO French team and other local partners, confirms Julien Champs. This device is the latest B747-400 simulator which was built worldwide, with an initial entry into service in 2005, and was kept in very good general condition by its operator, Malaysia Airlines Academy.   According to the contract, SIMAERO has supervised the transportation of the simulator to the receiving premises where it will be unloaded, re-assembled, powered up and prepared for a new qualification.

The most complex phase of the project is the recommissioning of the simulator, where the expertise of the team clearly shows up and is carried out by experienced simulator engineers.   Following the installation, SIMAERO had organized a re-run of the baseline check and Qualification Test Guide. The final stage of the simulator relocation is its qualification support including assistance with documentation preparation for certifying authority.

According to Sammy Zheng,  vice General Manager of CHINA SKY-WING INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY LTD, the main reasons for choosing SIMAERO are the rich experiences accumulated in simulator relocation and international presence of engineering team.

Even in the context of COVID-19, SIMAERO can still deploy its experienced engineers and partners in France, Malaysia and China. The success of this project is inseparable from SIMAERO’s strategy in the past years to invest in Asian markets, especially China’s market for many years.
